In some parts of the Middle East and North Africa, Christian communities celebrate the Christmas season as they have for thousands of years, with distinct traditions and ancient forms of worship. In others, believers must keep the season in silence and secrecy.
In our brand new free Advent resource, A is for Advent, you’ll discover an A to Z of the rich history of Christmas in the region, from the oldest surviving Christmas Day sermon to the modern carols that ring out through SAT-7’s live broadcasts. And, of course, we’ll revisit the story of the first Christmas as it unfolded in these lands over 2,000 years ago.
The prayer guide will include 26 powerful daily reflections based on each of the letters of the alphabet, starting on 1 December and finishing on Boxing Day. So, alongside the Middle Eastern Church, let’s prepare our hearts anew for the coming of the Lord this Advent.
Take a look at our other Advent resources, including an illustrated children’s activity book and all-age Christmas service plan!
